New Cameras Are Fun

Today was fun..

201001022355.jpg

..we added a new member to our family!

Adam sold his point-and-shoot and we needed a new one. I played with it a little, it will be nice to not ALWAYS have to lug around my DSLR. Although I am in love with my DSLR so I will probably still drag it around. ;)

For lunch we headed to one of my favorite places..Greens & Grille! Mmm.

For lunch I chose the Fall salad..

SO good.
DSC_0002.JPG

This salad has mixed greens, beets, peas, goat cheese, and roasted potatoes with a sherry thyme vinaigrette. Mmmm.

DSC_0004.JPG

It’s a pretty gah-jiss salad if I may say.

It kept me full for a really long time too! I couldn’t even finish it all and I wasn’t hungry until later tonight.

Around seven I headed to my friend Jamie’s house. She’s in town from Italy where she is working in ministry in Florence. I hadn’t seen her for a few months so I was super excited to see her.

When I got there I got hungry but hadn’t gotten dinner. So I munched on snacks she had set out for us.

IMG_0034.JPG

A little queso sort-of dip with spinach, salsa, and guacamole! I had some more chips and dip throughout the night.

I got hungry for real food and Jamie was sweet and let me have one of their Lean Cuisines. I would have taken a picture but it was just rice, beans and sauce and wasn’t pretty by any means.

It was good though and hit the spot. I also had a vanilla coke zero, I never really have soda so this was a treat. I love vanilla coke! :)

I am home now about to get to bed to read.

I will leave you with some pictures of Oviedo chickens..

DSC_0011.JPG

We live close to Oviedo and drive through it often and they have chickens roaming around. Their are even bumper stickers that read “I break for Oviedo chickens.”

Their are strict laws protecting them. Unfortunately I have heard of the local Church’s chicken feeding them..well..you get it.

The Last of 2009

I always think it’s so strange to stop and think, “Wow, it will never be 2009 again!”, it always blows my mind a little.

For breakfast:

DSC_0004.JPG

I know..snooze..but I needed something quick and yummy and cereal is the man for the job..if cereal is a dude.

For lunch, I wanted something light, since tonight we are going to be enjoying a four-course meal! :) :)
DSC_0012.JPG

Salad with spring mix and spinach, chickpeas, a little bit of Italian dressing and two large carrots on the side. :)

DSC_0013.JPG

Munch, munch, munch!

For a little saltiness, I microed two pieces of turkey bacon. Mmmm!

DSC_0017.JPG

This post is coming late because after lunch we drove to our favorite coffee shop to find out it closed at 1 P.M. for NYE. Oh well, we stopped for Starbucks and then decided to head home. I caused us to detour when I realized I didn’t have a cute outfit for New Years Eve! Can’t have that now, can we? :)

I ended up on a cute pair of black skinny jeans(on sale at Target) and a cute black blazer which I have wanted for a while now. I am still deciding on an undershirt.

Tonight we are meeting up with my in-laws to head to Roy’s restaurant. I LOVE Roy’s! Adam and I went there for Valentine’s day last year, tonight is fixed menu with four courses. Pictures and a recap tomorrow morning, I am sure we wont be home until after midnight!

Yesterday, while cleaning, I took pictures of some things we got for christmas and wanted to share.

DSC_0100.JPG

Anthro has my heart, check out these two cups and saucers we received from my mom. SO cute!! Perfect for the blog. :)

Good thing I got a gift card from there..

DSC_0080.JPG

..it came in this little guy. He’s so cute/weird I had to take a picture.

Or two.

DSC_0091.JPG

Besides the one library book..check out what I got. I am SO excited. Right now I am reading “New Moon” but after that…

DSC_0079.JPG

Again, so excited. My “read more” goal will be a lot easier to accomplish. Thanks mom and Adam! :)

I am off to finish getting ready for the evenings festivities. See you all in 2010!!

Oh..and..BE SAFE!!

Au revoir, 2009!

A Whole Lot Of Green

Adam and I just had a nice movie night, watching “The Hangover” it wasn’t as funny as I expected, I think because I heard for SO LONG how funny everyone thought it was. The husband enjoyed it greatly, I thought it was pretty fun but it didn’t live up to all the hype to me. Sad day, but still nice to have a movie night with Adam.

We went grocery shopping and stayed pretty close to budget! Success! It’ll definitely be an “eat what you have” sort of week. Basically, get creative and only eat what’s in your kitchen. I think we can do it. ;)

We bought some produce, and some things for lunch. Of course I bought a bag of spinach and bananas. These are essentials in my weekly grocery list!

When we got home, we loved on Leo a bit. The boy and the husband are still developing their relationship.

DSC_0007.JPG DSC_0009.JPG

Belly rubs earn brownie points.

For dinner? Exactly what I wanted..a whole bunch of green!! Since I had a heavier lunch, I wanted to balance it with a very light dinner.

DSC_0014.JPG

It was so big I used one of our mixing bowls to hold it!

DSC_0015.JPG

Delish nutrish. I broke up some carrot sticks and topped the salad with them.

DSC_0017.JPG

I also added half a can of reduced-sodium garbanzo beans to add a little more bulk.

I topped the salad with about a tablespoon of goddess dressing(all I had left) plus some balsamic vinegar.

I couldn’t, for the life of me, get the beans and carrots to all stay on the top.

DSC_0025.JPG

But it all made it into my tummy, the perfect light dinner!

Adam had salad too.

DSC_0023.JPG

Along with his red meat and onions! At least I got him to eat some green. ;)

For dessert, a tiny yet satisfying sliver of chocolate cake.

DSC_0027.JPG

Tomorrow I am picking up friends from the airport and hopefully get this place clean. Also, hopefully I will be finding some jobs to apply to.

What’s the best job you’ve ever had? I think the job I enjoyed the most was being a youth ministry intern. It was so amazing, I got to be a kid again and it was my job!! SO fun to see the students grow and mature into awesome teens and to now see some going to college. Loved it!

Hope you all have a good night! I am off to drink some tea and read in bed. :)

A Night With The Girls

So right after I posted I headed to the gym to get my two more miles in from my training plan.

I ran 2.00 miles in 25:30 with three minutes warm-up and cool down. Wednesday I have three miles on the plan that I will get in before we leave for home. I am SO excited to almost be heading home for Christmas! :)

Lunch was delicious!! I decided to have a little fun with two clementines as I waited for last nights pizza leftovers to heat up.
DSC_0042.JPG

For lunch I had two pieces of the roasted veggie flatbread and three pieces of the blue cheese, mozzarella and fig pizza. Delish!

DSC_0033.JPG

After I showered and got ready I headed out for more Christmas shopping. Plus this little beauty.

DSC_0047.JPG

Enter my new favorite non-caffeinated Starbuck’s drink: The Caramel Apple Spice. It’s basically a very yummy apple cider with a little bit of whipped cream and a caramel drizzle on top. To die for, it’s so delicious. I enjoyed every last sip of my tall sized winter drink.

For dinner I was craving two things: A salad and sweet potato.

DSC_0050.JPG

Wish granted!! I had a sweet potato with some smart balance and some S&P along with a salad of spinach greens, carrots, blue cheese crumbles and some goddess dressing. Yum!

DSC_0053.JPG

I had a great time tonight catching up with some of best girlfriends! I headed over to my friend Nikki’s place to hang out with some of my friends. Nikki just had a beautiful baby boy and it was fun just enjoying being around him and relaxing with the girls. I received a chocolate cake from my mother-in-law so I brought it over to enjoy with the girls. I had one piece at the beginning of the night and went back for another. They were small pieces, but once that sweet tooth starts going it’s hard to stop!

There’s this much left now:

DSC_0032.JPG

There will be a note placed on it tomorrow “TAKE TO WORK”, usually when we have a lot of sweets leftover we send it to his work. I did enjoy indulging in a some of this though. Publix makes amazing chocolate cake. This was smaller then looks but it’s very sweet, you don’t need much!

I was starving when I got home still, so I made two egg whites to try and get some more protein in.

DSC_0028.JPG

I know I haven’t run too many miles yet, but I can already tell my appetite is growing. That’s what I love/hate about working out, you know your metabolism is working harder but it also makes you hungrier! I just want to snack! Oy..it’s all about moderation. Which has been hard lately. ‘Tis the season? :-\

I am off to bed, busy day tomorrow including my first photo shoot ever!! Wish I had a better lens, but it will be fun. I am doing it as a favor for a friend so it will be fun and relaxed. Plus I know the last thing on my Christmas list for Adam and then wrapping! Tomorrow is our last full day in town. It’s almost time to go home! Yay!!

Have a good night!

Not enough time..

..in the day to get everything done! I wanted to go to yoga tonight, but due to not getting much done yesterday that’s all getting postponed until tonight. I also have been getting only 6-6 1/2 hours of sleep a night and I am feeling no bueno. After tomorrow though I am free!!!! :) I don’t know how I feel..it’s so surreal!

For breakfast, I had a bowl of H2H and chugged some awake tea (not while scolding hot..in case you were worried. ;) )

I was half-asleep and scarfed it before taking a picture apparently! Sorry friends.

For lunch..

DSC_0022.JPG

Spinach salad with baby carrots(and goddess dressing, of course)

DSC_0023.JPG

Some Pepperidge Farm pretzel crisps..

DSC_0024.JPG

An organic fruit strip, and Blueberry Zbar.

DSC_0025.JPG

The Zbar was actually part two of my breakfast. I ate it around 8:30 to try and curb my hunger. I made it an extra 15 minutes longer then normal before I got hungry! Small victories. I was starving by 10:45. Lunch was delish though.

Now I am off to cut coupons, hit target, hit the grocery store, apologizing for hitting them then hope they’ll let us shop there.

We need to buy some things to help us organize. We need A LOT more storage. I realized last night that our place often feels a mess because there’s just not enough room in our tiny one-bedroom. Finding easy ways to organize everything is going to help so much!

Also, we delegated household duties which we have never really talked about. I’ll explain more about that later.

I’m off to snip snip snip! Coupons that is.

Two more days!

Only two more days left of my internship! YAY!! Cannot wait to be done. :)

Breakfast was rushed this morning, again. I had a little more time to get ready for my seminar but boy was I SUPER tired! Apparently I have decided to give up on getting 8 hours this week. I know it’s bad to say, but because I don’t have to teach I am more okay with not getting enough sleep as much as it stinks the next day. There’s just too much to do! I’ll be catching up on my zzzz’s after Friday. I hate getting less then 8. Less then 8 don’t feel so great! Oh well..

Breakfast ended up being a Kashi pumpkin pie bar (I am officially obsessed), some tazo awake tea, and a yogurt. All unpictured, I was in a rush and figure you all know what they look like by now so I’m sure you don’t mind.

DSC_0025.JPG

Too cute.

When I got home, I had a photoshoot with Leo..then I made lunch.

DSC_0036.JPG

For lunch I heated up a Morning Star spicy black bean burger topped with organic ketchup and spinach, frozen veggies, frozen broccoli and kale chips! Yummm!

DSC_0039.JPG

I swear there’s a burger under them there spinach leaves!

Along with a string cheese.

DSC_0024.JPG

Also, a glass of V8 fruit juice. Oh, and ketchup with hot sauce for dipping the kale chips!
DSC_0042.JPG

I also had a mug of ginger-green tea. After lunch and cleaning the house!

Tonight we had our small group and Joyce(who usually makes dinner) and her husband were out of town so we had pizza! :)

DSC_0043.JPG

Plus a yummy salad with toasted almond slivers, strawberries and a raspberry vinaigrette! Yummm!

I had another half a slice of pizza and another heaping scoop of that salad with extra strawberries. So yummy!

DSC_0045.JPG

..and a perfectly sized cupcake with chocolate frosting. Deeelish.

Today was super busy! I thought my seminar was three hours, found out this morning it was 3 1/2 which turned into almost 4 hours!! I didn’t really get a day off because once I got home I realized that the students got out of school 30 minutes later. Sort of a bummer. I rested for a little after lunch and then got right into cleaning our apartment until Adam got home, then it was right off to small group. Sort of a bummer I wasn’t more productive. Oh well, the house is now clean! I have two more days until I am freeeee! :)

In other news….

Semi-detox Sunday.

Semi-detox because I am not necessarily eating just fruits and veggies but about 85-90% I would say ..I am still doing A LOT better and plan on getting another 64oz. AT LEAST of water today which will really help. I have not been staying hydrated like I should.

This morning started with a yummy green monster. Unfortunately I have a magic bullet and it can only fit so much.

DSC_0002.JPG

I have to constantly fight with it because sometimes it doesn’t blend (my fault for using it so much) and I have to make a glass and a half of smoothie..oh well.

DSC_0009.JPG

Plus an orange I had snagged from the hotel we stayed at in Jacksonville..mwahaha.

DSC_0004.JPG

Then we headed to church, it was a really good sermon but I was sleepy. I sipped on some green tea with 1/4 packed of sugar(I need to start bringing truvia packets in my purse). I also drank 8 oz. of water. Both unpictured, not too exciting anyways.

For lunch, I was craving veggies and goddess dressing. That craving turned into this..

DSC_0014.JPG

A huge salad with baby spinach leaves, brocc, celery and chickpeas. I had to make due with what we had. Drizzled with goddess dressing it was yummy and satisfying.

I also had a few of Adam’s All-Bran crackers.

DSC_0019.JPG

Hence why I call it a semi-detox..so far so great. I am starting to feel better already. Tonight I am planning on more veggies and maybe even a sweet potato.

I decided to save another GM for a snack while we put up our tree. I am really excited about going to get it today! We’re off. :)

Enjoy your Sunday!!!

It’s like Christmas before Thanksgiving!

Well, today was a little hectic. Sorry for only one post today. I suppose it is busy for most people, it is the day before Thanksgiving after all!

My morning started with a green monster..

IMG_1340.JPG

I drank about half, I didn’t have much of an appetite this morning! I actually had a group interview for a job and when my nerves are high, my appetite is way low.

My sister drove and Leo came along. After my interview we ran errands then headed home to pack up for our trip! When I got home, I was starving and I remembered that this was in my freezer..

IMG_1341.JPG
Yummm! It didn’t look as pretty, and I was starving so a photo didn’t happen but it was very good! It packed 16 grams of protein as well. I love Amy’s!

Thankfully, Adam got home early so we were able to pack and get on the road earlier then we thought. But first, we had to head to Super Target for a few essentials. We picked up items to make pies for tomorrow (yay baking!)and I make a mean apple pie.

I also had to pick up an early graduation present for myself from my mom..

IMG_0003.JPG

The Nikon D3000.

Okay okay okay, I know it seems EVERYONE is getting a DSLR. I suppose it’s true but honestly, I have wanted one for at least three years. My Dad was great and got me an SLR style point and shoot but I really felt like it was time for an upgrade. This isn’t a spur of the moment decision, it’s been years people..and I am SO excited. I was between this and the Canon for a while, but they seemed pretty even, and this one just felt perfect in my hands. It’s the smallest Nikon DSLR and is not heavy at all, it will be very easy to take with me places. My sister was so sweet and bought me an SDHC memory card as a graduation present. I even got this super cute camera bag as a gift for myself!

IMG_0005.JPG IMG_0006.JPG IMG_0007.JPG

IMG_0008.JPG

I couldn’t resist. I love it. I wanted a bag that I would want to carry around.

I had a glass of wine once we got to the hotel. Our suite is great! It’s designed for extended stay guests. Full kitchen with an oven and full sized refrigerator! Pretty nice, if we had everything we needed here we would just make the pies in the morning. Oh well, I would have taken more pictures of it but it was pretty messy by the time I got to it. We had a lot of stuff! Or maybe I had a lot of stuff? Oh well..better to over pack then under pack..right?

Dinner didn’t happen until 10:30! We ordered pizza and salads.

DSC_0022.JPG

These photos were with my old camera, the new one was still charging..

IMG_1344.JPG

I nursed this glass of wine along with another one after dinner..

IMG_1346.JPG

I requested veggies..I had these plus one more slice..(maybe even had some garlic butter)..

IMG_1348.JPG

Side salad with Italian dressing.

By this time, my camera had charged so I had some fun..

DSC_0009.JPG
DSC_0010.JPG
DSC_0012.JPG
I had a little fun, tomorrow I am only baking the pie and so I will have plenty of time to read and play with it..I have lots to learn. :) I know you may be rolling your eyes since it’s just one more person with a DSLR..but I am really excited about it. So yay!! :)
I wish you all a very happy, healthy and loving Thanksgiving. Remember all that you are thankful for tomorrow.
Some things I am thankful for:
-My husband
-My faith
-My parents
-My sister
-My stepdad
-My family
-My friends
-My health
-Our doggies
-The fact that I am finding my passion in life and my true calling.
-The fact that I am graduating in 3 1/2 weeks.
-I am truly thankful for this blog and for those of you who read it! Thank you, seriously, I am so thankful for you and your support!!
I would love to know, what are you thankful for this year??

My body needs catching up!

After having three hours of sleep Saturday night, my body is paying for it STILL! I tried heading to the gym on the elliptical and lasted 10 minutes! Hopefully I can get a good nights sleep tonight and feel better tomorrow. I also didn’t mind leaving the gym early because I have a couple hours of cleaning on the way and that’ll be plenty exercise! Especially after being on my feet for six hours. My body is screaming at me to rest..so I am going to get right to cleaning after this post! My goal is for it to be clean enough to give you a tour!

IMG_0638.JPG

My morning began with a lovely cup o’ Joe. With a little bit of skim milk and a packet of Sun Crystals.

IMG_0645.JPG

A bowl of Kashi H2H and puffins.

IMG_0639.JPG

Yes, another salad and veggies. This time my salad included:

  • Gorgonzola
  • Annie’s Goddess Dressing
  • Spring Mix
  • Spinach
  • Organic baby carrots
  • Broccoli

Of course accompanied by a dry, toasted, sandwich thin.

Mostly the same but I added more veggies to this mix. I have to think of something yummy for lunch tomorrow so I don’t get sick of it too fast. That dressing is incredible though!

I also packed a stonyfield yogurt for some sweetness..not that I didn’t maybe sneak some of Lindsey’s cookies in after that! ;) Two mini cookies..

IMG_0643.JPG

My full lunch minus two mini-cookies!

Now I am about to fuel up for a night of cleaning before dinner! Here we go!

Katy

PS- You have another couple hours to enter the giveaway! I’ll pick the winner by 8 tonight!
