To whittle or not to whittle?

Hello hello!

I had another awesome day of relaxing, cleaning, and working out.

I actually had another training day and I ran three miles! :)

Whittle My Middle

When I got home I wondered..to whittle or not to whittle?

Of course the plan is five days a week but I was sore and could definitely feel the work I had done yesterday.

I talked to Angela and settled on doing the workouts but being careful to listen to my body and if I felt outright PAIN to not push it!

I was able to get a decent whittle time in..(;

Front Plank- 60 seconds

Side plank- 30 seconds each side

Torso Twists- 50 Reps

Plank ups(w/out leg ups): 10 reps

Boat Pose: 3 sets of 10

Bicycle- 2 sets of 30

Boy did I whittle my middle today and it felt good! Until tonight, now I just feel sore. ;)

To refuel I chose breakfast!

Two egg whites, two(plus one) piece of turkey bacon, and a small glass of fat-free milk with a couple teaspoons of lite chocolate syrup.

YUM! Perfect refuel.

Tonight our Wednesday night group reunited for the first time since the holidays!

It felt like forever since I had seen them, so a reunion was wonderful.

I always look forward to the meal’s Joyce provides for us.

Tonight, she ordered in.

Olive garden!! YUM!

My plate:

I had this plus another scoop of salad, another meat ball, and half another breadstick.

I wasn’t even full, I could have eaten a whole ‘nother plate. Mmmm!

I also had a shortbread cookie and scoop of coffee ice cream for dessert but my camera wasn’t around me to grab(we were sitting as they were passed out).

Great meal!

Now I am off to drink some tea, read a bit and then head to bed! I am thinking of doing yoga in the morning but considering how sore my body feels now, I may just give my body a rest for the next couple days since this will be the longest weekly mileage I have run, well, probably ever. What do you think?

I think I should just see how I feel tomorrow!

Have a great night!

A Monster of Green

Today, when noon hit, I decided I wasn’t quite hungry for lunch but I definitely needed a pick-me-up.

DSC_0016.JPG

Enter: A monster of green.

DSC_0009.JPG

In this delicious green monster I had.

-1 packet Pom/Mango Amazing meal

(I got a bunch of packets for Christmas. :) )

DSC_0007.JPG

-Mangoes

-Strawberries

-Ground Flax

-Soymilk

-Plain fat free yogurt

-One banana

The amazing meal is a bit chalky, but adding more mangoes made it delicious. It filled me up and definitely gave me the boost I needed!

For my actual lunch, when Adam got home a couple hours later, I had a smaller lunch thanks to my awesome GM.

I had two small whole wheat pitas dipped in some Sabra’s roasted red pepper hummus and banana. Perfect and yummy. It’s also helping us keep to our “eating what we have” goal.

A couple hours later, after working on the new site, we got ready to head out for my three-miler that was on the plan. I got to try out my new SpiBelt (thank you, Adam Santa!)

The lighting wasn’t great, but it’s okay..I had my belt!

I was so excited, I had to dance.

Okay Adam, no more pictures!

DSC_0069.JPG

My three miles went well, Adam ran with me a bit but mostly just walked when I walked. Gosh, I hope this gets easier!

I noticed I felt stronger on my run, but still it’s baby steps! I can’t wait until I can reach 6 miles, let alone 10! I can’t wait to conquer longer distances! :) Call me crazy.

I really liked the SpiBelt, It held my phone in place wonderfully as I ran and I didn’t have to mess or fuss with it once which left me to focus on the running at hand. I am happy with it. The dancing may continue! ;)

You’re catching me at the beginning of my racing career, I have run on and off for the last few years but I am getting serious about it now.

When I got back, I fueled the best way I know how right after the holidays.

DSC_0071.JPG

I iced while munching on a small glass of fat-free organic milk and a gingerbread leg. :)

DSC_0073.JPG

I spent some time cleaning and trying to organize our Christmas presents, I will show some spotlights tomorrow!

Then, we made dinner.

DSC_0013.JPG

A small plate of Barilla Plus farfalle with some olive oil and garlic tomato sauce. Yum!

I made us salads, but sadly I was out of my goddess dressing!

I decided to make my own dressing by mixing:

-About a tablespoon dijon

-Balsamic vinegar

-White wine vinegar

-Olive oil

-S&P to taste

-Whisk everything but the olive oil until the very end and then slowly add the oil as you whisk vigorously. Then pour over salad and enjoy!

Mmm..for dessert we heated up these small sweet waffles from Whole Foods and drizzled a little Nutella on top.

This is what happens when you leave your dessert alone with a pastry chef. Thanks Adam. :)

DSC_0022.JPG

I also had half of the caramel.

I had this with a small glass of fat-free milk (and maybe had another ginger bread leg ;) ).

I am off to work on more cleaning!

Have a great night!!

Best 20 minutes spent today!

Those 20 minutes? I’ll get to that in a bit! :)

For breakfast, I had a boring cup of coffee and bowl of H2H. Sorry for the lack of picture but it wasn’t too exciting. :)

Today was “Walk to school day” so we joined the students at a park near the school and then some police officers closed the street down so we could all walk to school, in the street, together. It was SO my kind of thing. It’s super important that we promote exercise in all forms. Most of the students that go to this school live very close and their are plenty of crossing guards keeping it safe for them. It helps them with their exercise and also is pretty great for the environment to not be driving every morning when not needed. :) Love it!

For lunch:

  • Mini-Tribe hummus
  • Carrots
  • Toasted Sandwich Thin
  • String Cheese
  • Pirate’s booty

I ate all of the carrots, most of the sammie-thin, and the string cheese but I didn’t touch the booty. ;) Didn’t mean for it to sound the way but I am not changing it. I ate the pirate’s booty after school. We got out early since it was Wednesday and we get out an hour early on Wednesdays and we didn’t have a meeting(thank goodness). I headed home and immediately got into my gym clothes and left before I was even tempted to sit and not move the rest of the day. I needed to run! :)

Oh and those twenty minutes?? I RAN 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT! This may not sound like a big deal but I think that’s the longest I have ever ran at once ever. I mean a good, steady run. I didn’t overexert myself(except I did 30 seconds of sprints at the end) and I didn’t jog I stayed 5.0 and over for those 20 minutes and it was awesome. My body is going to be sore tomorrow since I did yoga yesterday as well. Tomorrow will be my rest day. I am super happy with my workout. I ran, on the treadmill, a total of 25 minutes at 1.0% incline since I have been told that’s the closest to actually running outside. That included a 3 minute warm-up and 4 minute warm down. I came in a total of 2.05 miles! It may not be much but I am proud of it. :)

I am now off to read some blogs and get ready for small group tonight! I’ll try and post later, we are having a “pre-Thanksgiving” dinner. Yummmmmmmm! :)
