Party in the U.S.A
Hey friends! It is 2 A.M. and I am still awake! I just got home from a fun bachelorette party and had a great time. I should get to bed since I am getting up early to hit the Disney Marathon expo with Ashley and Ryan. Oh well, I will take a sweet nap when I get home from our field trip. Hopefully!
For a mid-morning snack, I had some of this delicious Stonyfield yogurt!

I then had a little yoga time! I did a warm-up on one segment of Exercise TV then I did the AM yoga which was 12 minutes.

I got about 20 minutes of morning yoga in and it felt SO great! I am the person that thinks “20 minutes only? not even worth it!” but this really energized me for the rest of the day and helped stretch my sore muscles. This lady was SUPER perky.
For lunch I wasn’t sure what to have, I didn’t have dressing for salad(we need more balsamic) and I didn’t want another sammie.
Enter: SOUP! Perfect on a coooold day…..in..Florida! HA, I am NOT complaining. I love love love this weather and since 300 days(AT LEAST) out of 365 are super hot and sticky I am relishing this. I can’t wait to (hopefully) one day move a little more north.
Okay, back to the soup!

We found a coupon in the paper for some Select Harvest soup.

I heated up the soup, put some string cheese on the top and toasted some whole wheat pita on the side.
I also had a sweet potato and carrots. It was an orange tinged lunch..I see that. I eat so many sweet potatoes but they are inexpensive, easy and SOOOO good!!!
Just in case you were wondering, I microwave 98% of my sweet potatoes. So quick and easy! Just puncture holes with a fork or knife(be careful!) stick it on a microwave safe plate and micro starting with four minutes and if it’s a bigger potato, nuke it for five! Sometimes you have to play with it. Some days(like today) it’s perfectly soft and yummy, other days I have to keep microwaving it because it’s a little al dente.
I didn’t take food pics tonight since it was all sort of crazy once I arrived to my former roomie, Mandy’s place. I carpooled with Mandy and my other friend Natalie to the party.
For dinner I had a chik-fil-a grilled chicken sammie(270 calories, not bad at all and great when you are in a rush!) I also ordered a medium fruit salad which has apple, strawberries, and mandarin oranges. Yummy!
It was a fun night that involved lingerie, inappropriate (but hilarious) bachelorette party games, and a blow-up doll named Peter Pecker. It was frightening, feel free to use your imagination on that one.
Then we hit a local bar for some dancing. So fun. Throughout 5 1/2 hours of bachelorette fun I had two drinks and a shot that was more the size of half a shot and wasn’t strong. I did not need to drink more then that which is great because I was able to drive home to sleep in my own bed and not wake up feeling like death in the morning.
I am off to bed friends! It’s late..or early? I am going to beg Ashley to take me to ‘bucks in the morning, for sure.
Oh and look out tomorrow for a TASTY GIVEAWAY!
Goodnight!
Katy

Christmas Party Time.
After babysitting ended so late last night, we decided to sleep in. Unfortunately, having a dog (or dogs) is sort of like having children and sometimes they are not going to let you sleep. I walked Leo super early this morning, and then fell asleep on the couch so he could sleep next to me. Adam is completely against dogs in the bed. That’s all I am going to say about that. Love you babe!
Adam woke me up and I went back into bed and passed out for another couple hours. I woke up and knew what I wanted for breakfast.

I’ve been bitten by the oat bug. This time I used mostly the same mix as yesterday:
-Oats
-Soymilk and water
-1/2 scoop protein powder
-One banana (I can’t have oats with a banana)
-Vanilla
-Stevia
Once it all started to combine I added some frozen berries. Big mistake. It turned the consistency all grainy, but I still ate it all. I am guessing the liquid from the frozen berries didn’t mix well with something. I am still experimenting.
Right after breakfast, we FINALLY decorated our Christmas tree!
I LOVE our star!! We had searched a few places for one and Target had this one. I absolutely love it, it looks like twigs and holly!

We decorated the tree at first with multi-colored lights but they did not match our star at all. Luckily they were free lights, and I mentioned that I would much prefer white. This morning he turned the lights on and he had replaced them to white without me knowing! Good husband.
Here are some of our ornaments, we only have a few but our collection will grow..

This Jelly Belly ornament we got on our honeymoon. My aunt used to live near wine country and she lived so close to the JB factory. I knew it would be one place Adam would really enjoy(we watch Unwrapped all of the time). It was so fun! I will have to recap the honeymoon another time, but we picked this up there. The swing literally hangs on a branch. It’s Adam’s favorite.

This one is MY favorite..

“It’s a major award!!”
We got this last year at Hallmark when the ornaments were on sale. It lights up as well and quotes lines from the movie, A Christmas Story.

If you didn’t know what movie this was from, go watch it! It’s my favorite Christmas movie. It’s not the holiday season without watching this movie!

Sorry it’s not the clearest, I wanted to show it with the lights on.

We kept it really simple with the solid ornaments. I really love it. We also added candy canes for more decoration!
After we decorated we changed and headed to the gym. I ended up doing 30 minutes on the elliptical.
Later in the day I headed to a blogger Christmas party! Meghann invited us all to celebrate the holidays with good food and friends. It was at Sarah’s house, she was a wonderful hostess. (thanks Meghann and Sarah!!)

We all brought something. It was a pot-luck “linner” since it began at 3.
I brought the cookies next to the candle. I actually brought paper plates, bowls and utensils but I felt like I couldn’t arrive with something to eat. I guess that’s the foodie in me.
Okay it was only Pillsbury “simply” cookie dough that I had in the fridge. Hey, it was something! I had a coupon from the paper a few weeks ago and picked it up knowing I would need it sometime.

Ashley is beautiful! I also got to meet Katy for the first time. When you share a name that people usually tease for being spelt strangely (i.e-Catty) you bond.
Sweet Ryan let me try out her 35mm lens. I LOVED it!! I am currently deciding on a 50mm or 35mm.

I had a bowl of delicious 15-bean soup that Meghann made with some of Ashley’s quinoa on top.

Here is my dessert plate. Before you judge, I just wanted a small bite of everything. I honestly barely made a dent. Ask Adam, I asked him to take it away after I had a few bites.

Those wantons were DELICIOUS!! I want to say they had marshmallow and chocolate with peppermint. SO yummy! Meghann made pumpkin cornbread, and Kelly made Christmas cookies.

Ryan made raw cheesecake. Honestly it was phenomenal. It tasted like a coconut chocolate torte. It was so rich and creamy!
Adam and I also shared some hot apple cider which was delicious!

Leo came to hang out with the dogs! Of course, that means he hid from them most of the time. He stayed pretty close.
I loved meeting everyones “children” here’s Sam, Sarah’s dog.

We also played a “White Elephant” present exchange.

I was number 7. Out of 8!

Adam and I ended up with a bottle of wine!! Not too bad if I say so myself.

Leo stayed close and sat between Meghann and I. Spoiled puppy.

The gift I brought was a cute/silly one. I bought this piggy bank at Target. It was too cute, I couldn’t pass it up!

We headed home after a fun time and needed something fast and easy to make for dinner!

Enter: leftovers and veggies! I headed up some of the chicken enchilada from lunch the other day. Also headed up some extra chicken from dinner with Adam’s parents to bulk up the protein value. I split the enchilada in half and shred the extra chicken into the cheesy pile. I also cooked up some frozen veggies and cut some slices of the five grain bread I bought for dinner on Friday. I ended up stealing more of Adam’s veggies so that they filled half my plate. It was a free dinner!! Okay, not totally free. But making my Friday lunch stretch into three meals really made me happy.
For dessert, I had two of the cookies I brought to the party and a cold glass of organic 1% moo-milk. I usually get skim, but Adam ran into Publix and grabbed that instead.

One of my favorite desserts. Simply wonderful. Of course, I dunked. Who do you think I am? An amateur?
Tomorrow starts day one of training for the half-marathon. Okay, it’s a rest day. But still..here we goooo!
I’m off to relax with Adam. Have a great night!
Katy
P.S.- Be sure to add me on twitter or click on the subscribe link in the corner if you want to keep up to date with my posts. I would love for you to join me daily as I begin to train for my half!

Baby time.
I am truly loving this weather right now. Cold, overcast, drizzly. Okay I wish it wasn’t raining, but I will take it. Winter weather makes me feel alive, which may sound strange but I have always been a cold weather kind of girl.
I actually overslept this morning!! I was heading to my friend, Hayley’s, baby shower today at 11. I woke up at 9:45!!!! I haven’t slept that late all semester. I couldn’t believe it. I was stressed but then I took a deep breath and realized it was okay, I would make it. I would have a gift, I would be fine! I felt instantly better once I took a deep breath and thought through it. I was a mess the 15 minutes before I relaxed though. Poor Adam, he had made me breakfast and everything(and took pictures as I slept)!

He made waffles from scratch (using a basic recipe online) and arranged a beautiful clementine on the plate. He’s too good to this blogger!!

I took this picture before knowing he had already taken one! Thanks babe.

I ate one of the waffles and the orange.
I then headed to the party, was a little late but luckily they were just getting to the food. Check out the spread!

The beautiful momma.

This was my spread. Some hummus, crackers, risotto with greens, dried cranberries and feta cheese(my friend Gayle makes this, YUM!), some cheesy grits, and an egg/sausage casserole. I ate most of this plate minus some of the hummus! The perfect amount of food.

The theme colors were a sage green and brown. They don’t know the gender yet so they used neutral colors! I LOVE these colors. I think my second favorite color after red, would have to be this green. Classic.

Check out the beautiful cupcakes. They colored the vanilla cupcakes with a hint of green as well! I didn’t eat one of these, but they were definitely picture worthy. I think I was sugared out by all the sweets I ate yesterday!

The shower was at my friend Erica’s house, check out this retro oven, SO awesome! I love that they kept it in here, it’s super cute.

On my way home I stopped for coffee..

DD iced with skim and sugar. Why do I crave iced drinks when it’s COLD out?! Beats me, I realized after I got it that a holiday drink from the ‘bucks would have been more appropriate, oh well. I’m still nursing this. I just needed something to make me feel awake. I may have gotten enough sleep last night, but my body is still catching up!

Isn’t this cute?? It was the favor from the baby shower. So sweet.
I love baby showers, but I am SO not ready for a baby! Give me five years! I’m sure that may change, but for now I am not even sure I am ready for our own dog(we are foster parents for my sister’s right now)! It’s okay for me, I have at least five(that’s right) pregnant friends right now (something in the water?? I’m drinking bottled from now on)and I am living vicariously through them!
I broke into this party favor when I got home and was happy to see some hershey kisses and hugs!
I had one of each.

Adam is still out, he took advantage of me having other plans and went Christmas shopping for me. He’s better at this then I am, I will wait until I have a week of nothing to do and will go shopping then. I love this time of year but I want to avoid the crowds as much as possible!
Enjoy your Saturday!
